Jason Zhao
Chairman
Jason Zhao is a founder of Meten and has served as Chairman of Meten’s Board of Directors since inception. Prior to starting Meten’s business in 2006, Mr. Zhao served as Vice President at Fujian King’s International ELT School, or King’s International, from 2004 to 2006. Mr. Zhao received his EMBA degree from the China Europe International Business School in 2010 and his bachelor’s degree in Trading Economics from Changchun University of Science and Technology in 2000.

Alan Peng
Chief Executive Officer, Director
Alan Peng is a founder of Meten and has served as a Director and Chief Executive Officer of Meten since inception. Prior to starting Meten’s business in 2006, Mr. Peng served as Director of the Teaching Department and Principal of Quanzhou School of King’s International from 2004 to 2006. Mr. Peng received his EMBA degree from the China Europe International Business School in 2011 and his bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Trading from Changchun University of Science and Technology in 2000.
Richard Guo
Vice President, Director
Richard Guo is a founder of Meten and has served as a Director and Vice President of Meten since inception. Prior to starting Meten’s business in 2006, Mr. Guo served as Director of Marketing of Quanzhou School of King’s International from 2005 to 2006. Mr. Guo received his EMBA degree from the China Europe International Business School in 2012, his master’s degree in Business Administration from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2007 and his bachelor’s degree in Trading and Economics from Changchun University of Science and Technology in 2000.
Yongchao Chen
Director
Yongchao Chen has served as a Director of Meten since April 2019, having joined the company in May 2006. Prior to that, Mr. Chen served as a translator at Longwangang Group Shanghai Industrial from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Chen received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting Computerization from Changsha University of Science & Technology in 2002.
Yanli Chen
Independent Director
Yanli Chen has served as the Managing Partner of Cornerstone Asset Management since June 2008. Mr. Chen received his bachelor’s degree in Auditing from Wuhan University in 1991, and his EMBA degree from the China Europe International Business School in 2011.
Zhiyi Xie
Independent Director
Zhiyi Xie has been the General Manager of Shenzhen Shenghongtao Technology since April 2017. Prior to that, Mr. Xie served as the General Manager of Shenzhen Haiyue Huifu Investment Management (2016-2017) and as the Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Yipu Rui Venture Capital (2010-2015). His previous roles include that of Investment Director of Shenzhen Dingchuan Investment, Assistant General Manager at Shenzhen Jingrui Industrial, Manager of Shenzhen Jinhongxing Guarantee Investment Management, and Risk Control Manager at Shenzhen Zhongrongxin Financing Guarantee. Mr. Xie started his career as a lawyer at Hunan Hongye Tengfei Law Firm, having obtained his bachelor's degree in Law from Xiangtan University in 2001. He received his Lawyer's Qualification Certificate and Fund Qualification Certificate in 2000 and 2017, respectively.
Ying Cheng
Independent Director
Ying Cheng has been a Partner of Beijing Trans Technology since 2016. Prior to that, she served as the Senior Financial Manager of the engine business unit of Cummins (China) Investment (2015-2016), Financial Director of Green Energy High-Tech Group (2013-2014) and Chief Financial Officer of China Haohan Group (2012-2013). Ms. Cheng worked as a Meten Center Director from 2011 to 2012. Prior to that, she held several finance roles at Shell China Exploration and Production, Beijing Sifang Jibao Automation and Netchaching Inc. Ms. Cheng started her career as a Senior Accountant at Arthur Andersen, having received her bachelor’s degree in Economics in National Economic Management from Peking University in 1996, and her EMBA degree from the China Europe International Business School in 2012.
Charles McIntyre
Independent Director
Charles McIntyre has served EdtechX’s Executive Chairman of the Board since formation and Chief Investment Officer since August 2018. Mr. McIntyre is the Chief Executive Officer of IBIS Capital Limited, an investment and advisory firm that he co-founded in 2003. He has over 25 years of experience of building businesses in a number of industry sectors including edtech, media and financial services. Mr. McIntyre began his career with the investment banking arm of Apax Partners which he spun off in 1998. Subsequently, the business was built up into a pan-European investment bank operating with offices in 7 countries with 140 people before being sold for in excess of $200m. In 2006, he was among the founders of a global hedge fund, which during his 6 year period as a partner generated returns of approximately 53%. In 2013, together with Mr. Vedrenne-Cloquet, Mr. McIntyre co-founded EdTech Global to build a conference and research business focused on the education technology and training. Mr. McIntyre is a Governor of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, Chairman of Learnlight, and Chairman of Immerse. He holds an honors degree in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics.
Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet
Independent Director

Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet has served as EdtechX’s Chief Executive Officer since formation and, since 2013, as Operating Partner at IBIS Capital Limited, a London based investment bank focused on the education and edtech industries. He co-founded education technology conference series EdTechX (Europe, Asia, Africa) with Charles McIntyre in 2013. Mr. Vedrenne-Cloquet is Chair of the London Edtech Week and Asia Edtech Week, and serves as an advisory board member for SXSW EDU. Mr. Vedrenne-Cloquet has over 20 years of operational, investment and advisory experience in the media, advertising and education industries, with a focus on digital transition and international expansion. From 2008 to 2012, he served as EMEA Head of Corporate Development, Strategy and New Ventures for Time Warner. Prior to that, he held various senior executive positions at international media groups Omnicon, Modern Times Group and Lagardere. Mr. Vedrenne-Cloquet is the Chair of Trustee of the Board of CFBL, an international French Bilingual School in London where he is member of the Technology, Finance and Special Needs committees.

Benjamin is also Non Executive Director at SkiBro Technologies Limited (UK, France), a winter sport technology company. He graduated summa cum laude from Babson College (USA), holds a master’s degree from ESCP Europe (France) and an executive education certificate from London Business School (UK).
